British science week 2020 - Year two

This week, the year two children have enjoyed celebrating British science week. We have been completing activities associated with space. Our main activity, was exploring what plants could (if they had all of the appropriate resources/equipment) grow and survive on space. The children explored various seeds, vegetables and fruit, identifying what they were. Then we discussed how these plants grow and what part of each item we actually eat. Many children were shocked at some of the results.  We then had a discussion about what plants would need to grow on space and decided which (if any) would be the best. We will be continuing our science week next week, completing more activities associated to space including: seeing what space looks like using VR, testing how craters are formed etc.

On a final note, there is a KS1 science section on the website if you want to see what we have been learning about this year. Additionally, there are some useful apps on there for your children to play linked to our science topics throughout KS1.
