International Women's Day - 2019

Today, we celebrated international women's day. Children discovered some famous female figures such as Marie Curie, Rosa Parks and Jane Austen. We were very impressed with children's attitudes and positvity in learning about why we celebrate international women's day. We discussed how women's rights have changed over time and how women now have the right to vote, work in various job roles and have equal opporunities on a daily basis. We asked children who could play football, guitar or ride a bike? The children's responses were fantastic, showing an excellent awareness of why we celebrate international women's day and how things have changed over time. The Queen has been Year 1's main focus today, talking about her life, achievements and role as Queen. We will be continuing this learning about Kings, Queens and the Royal family throughout this term.
