Nathan Young visiting Year 2

This term the  learning hero in year 2 is Nathan Young.

Nathan is an ex pupil of St George’s who is profoundly deaf. He has worked extremely hard to overcome any difficulties that he has been faced with and is now an international swimmer who has represented Great Britain in the Deaf Swimming World Championships and the Deaflympics, in which he won a bronze medal.

In an inspirational presentation, Nathan explained his journey to the children. He is such a fantastic role model who left the children feeling very positive and inspired.

Nathan is now training 20 hours a week to represent Great Britain in the Deaf World Swimming Championships in Brazil, this summer. He will be the only athlete from GB and will have to fund the trip himself. The children in year 2 would like to support him and will discuss next week what they can do to help with the fundraising.
