Tae kwon-do black belt

We are delighted to report on the achievement of Beatrice Bartram in year 5.

Bea has been training since May 2015 and on 12 April 2019 she took her grading for her 1st Dan Black Belt.   bea is a member of  Wirral & Chester Tae Kwon-Do which is a member of the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain (TAGB) recognised in the UK through UK Sport & Sport England and World-Wide though Tae Kwon-Do International.  For her training she follows the same syllabus as adult students, and the absolute minimum time it takes from White Belt (Beginners) to 1st Dan Black Belt is 3.5 years. Many students during their training will compete locally, Nationally or Internationally, and will help out in class supporting other students.

Tae Kwon-Do is a traditional Martial Art from Korea and includes Patterns (a set of sequenced moves), Theory, Sparring and focuses on Self Defence.

In preparation for their grading, students will train at least twice a week, often 3-4 times per week, and attend 3 “Pre-Grading Sessions” with one of the Senior Members of the TAGB (All either 8th Dan World Masters or 9th Dan Grand Masters).  The grading itself is held in the TAGB Headquarters in Bristol in front of 5,  9th Dan Grand Masters.

On this occasion over 500 students took the Grading for their 1st Dan or higher Black Belts around 400 of those were grading for their 1st Dan (the same as Beatrice) and we are amazingly proud, that the Grand Masters of the TAGB considered Beatrice to be “The Bestin Grading” Student out of all of those grading for 1st Dan, an amazing testament to the High Level to which Beatrice Trains. We have attached Photographs of Beatrice Receiving her award at the recent Welsh National Championship in Cardiff, from Grand Master Oliver.
