Clay Creations in 5C!, by Miss M Jones

Date: 10th Oct 2022 @ 9:22am

This autumn, our art topic in Year 5 is sculpture. More specifically, creating clay vessels!

We have reignited our prior learning of clay from Year 3 to produce some wonderful 2D designs in our sketchbooks, which we have then transformed into beautiful, 3D clay forms. Children have explored the uses and characteristics of clay, whilst trialling different forming/joining techniques. Some of us used the coiling technique, some used the slab technique, some used the pinching technique!

After placing our final designs aside to dry, we then wrote a post-it note to give critical feedback either to ourselves, or to another artist in the class. Next week, once our vessels are dry, we will paint our final designs.

Take a look at what we have created so far and take a glance at our kind, specific feedback.

We can't wait to show you our painted vessels! Watch this space...
