In Key Stage 2, the Year 3 pupils used shapes to draw a variety of forms such as people, dogs, elephants and owls. Year 5 presented their nets they had made in DT and Year 6 made tesselating collages! Thank you to everyone who came to support the event! We hope you enjoy the photographs!
2C and 2D Trip to Liverpool, by Mrs Cameron-Ivanov
Date: 19th Nov 2019 @ 4:23pm
During our history lessons we have been learning about different types of transport from the 1930's up to present day.
On our trip, we experienced 4 types of modern day transport. We walked to the train station, took the train to Liverpool, and to get back to school we went on the Dazzle Ferry and a coach.
While we were in Liverpool, we visited the Liverpool Museum where we had lots of fun learning about many different modes of transport through time.
Here are a few photographs from our day.
2A and 2B D&T day, by Miss Gough-Hughes
Date: 21st Nov 2019 @ 7:59am
This week, the children in both classes made their own moving vehicle as part of our D&T learning. Throughout Autumn 1, we have been looking at the Dazzle ship and how to create different dazzle patterns, using elements of tints and tones from our art learning. We began the day by sealing our boxes and then using our dazzle designs to cover our box fully. We glue on a triangle insert which would keep our axle in place and then used a ruler to measure the width of our boxes, to know how long we need to cut the dowel to make our axles. The children were very confident at measuring in cm's, using a ruler and marking their number with a line. Then, using the saw, the children cut their wooden axles, using glue to attach one of the wheels to the end. Once this had dried, we put the axles through the holders and glued on the wheel to the other end. The final step was to let it dry and then we tested and evaluated our final product. Overall, the children were really happy with what they had produced and suggested some excellent things they could change if they were to make it again. Well done 2A and 2B!

The children enjoyed having a go at all of these activities and were incredibly keen to be able to complete Mangahigh at home. Also, the children enjoyed watching the video of the lovely nurse who told us how she uses maths in her job each and every day. Well done Year 2 for your enthusiasm and participation!
2A & 2B transport trip, by Miss Gough-Hughes
Date: 8th Nov 2019 @ 4:19pm
Last Friday, the children went on their school trip to Liverpool. We began our trip at 9 0'clock, walking to Grove Road station and getting on a train to James Street. The children loved hopping on the train, going through the tunnel and then using both an escalator and a lift when we arrived at the station. We left the station and walked across the road to reach the museum of Liverpool. Children enjoyed exploring lots of the exhibitions this museum had to offer, using their senses to hear, smell, touch and see all of the different displays. We particularly enjoyed our guided tour of the transport exhibition, exploring different modes of transport from the past including: a steam train, an old car, a horse and cart, and a boat. The children loved making noises associated to each transport and suggested whether each mode of transport would be slow or fast. The best part of our guided tour was getting to sit on the more modern mode of transport, the electric overhead railway train. On this train, we had pretend tickets, wore hats and were read a story all about the railway. Finally, before we left the museum, we went up to the top floor and did a sketch of what we could see out of the window. After, we left the museum, we boarded the Dazzle ship and got off at Seacombe. All children were incredibly excited to get on this ship as we have been learning about dazzle patterns in school and have seen photos of it in school. Finally, we left Seacombe by coach, returning to school at 3 o'clock. We had an excellent day and thoroughly enjoyed continuing our learning of transport from the past. Well done to the children for their enthusiam, engagement and good behaviour throughout.
