Eco Warriors

Welcome to St. George's Primary School's Eco Page!

We are currently celebrating ANOTHER successful renewal of our Eco-School Green Flag! Eco-Schools is an international, pupil-led award programme that rewards schools for their sustainable actions. Our children, especially our Eco Warriors, were able to show knowledge, understanding and compassion as they led the assessors through St. George's Primary School.

All about our Eco Warriors!

St. George's Primary pride ourselves on our well-established practices which nurture our environment such as: composting; saving energy; growing and harvesting food; reducing cost and energy by not eating meat on Mondays; and ensuring we are active and healthy. One of our major campaigns at the moment centres around promoting Clean Air and reducing air pollution.

We have a committed and passionate Eco Team which comprises of several staff members and two dedicated Eco Warriors elected from each class across Years 1-6.
Our Eco Warriors have half-termly working lunches to discuss current issues around 9 environmental elements and how they may be addressed in school.

The 9 environmental elements are:

  • Energy
  • Litter
  • Waste
  • Water
  • Healthy Living
  • Our School Grounds
  • Biodiversity
  • Transport
  • Global Citizenship

Eco-Schools Green Flag Celebration - 2nd November 2017

We were honoured to welcome the Mayor of Wirral, Mrs Ann McLachlan, and The Mayor's Consort, Mr Bill McLachlan, along with The Keeper of The Chains to St. George's Primary School on Thursday 2nd November 2017 to help us raise our Eco-Schools Green Flag. Governor Charlotte Scott and Eco-Schools assessors Lynn and Dave, also attended our Green Flag ceremony alongside our Eco Warriors - who were selected from a hat, as there are so many of us!

Madam Mayor and the Mayor's Consort were extremely impressed with our Eco Warriors and were interested in all of their hard work to ensure the renewal of the flag. Our Eco Warriors asked lots of fanstastic questions about the Mayor's role, and were even invited for a tour of Wallasey Town Hall in the New Year!

Please have a look through the images below from our celebration!
