During the Spring term our topics have been 'Traditional Nursery Rhymes' and 'People Who Help Us'. Our feature authors have been Julia Donaldson and David McKee and our feature artist has been Mondrian. We have enjoyed making Mondrian inspired Elmer the Elephants! In Maths we have explored the numbers 4 to 7.
Here are some of the highlights of this term:
In science, Miss Fanning helped us explore ways of making ice melt so that Pip the Penguin could get his fish out of it. We put the ice in salt, sugar, vinegar and warm water.
In phonics we used frozen paint to practice forming our letters.
In ICT we practiced programming using the Code-a-pillars to get them from one spot to another.
To celebrate Chinese New Year we made traditional Chinese instruments and Lion masks. During the week we tried some Chinese food for snack and at the end of the week we performed a Lion dance and played our instruments.
Red Nose Day
Today we celebrated red nose day by dressing in red and making alien red nose biscuits. We enjoyed learning the 'Put a Nose on it' Red Nose Day song.
For World Book Day we came dressed as characters from our favourite books. We also had a visit from the police to tie in with our topic of 'People Who Help Us'. They talked to us about how to stay safe and what to do in an emergency. They let us sit in the cells in the back of their van - it was very exciting!
