20 mph zones

We were delighted to see the introduction of new 20mph zones outside both schools.  This is a continuation of our extensive road safety campaign.

Mr Cassidy commented;

"This is a welcome step.  At school times there is a huge increase in traffic in this area.  With four local secondary schools and St George's in a one-kilometre radius, there are over five thousand pupils on the move at peak times.  This will help to keep everybody safer".

Bonnie in year 5 stated, “I definitely feel better.  This means I can cross the road safely”.

Nicholas in year 5 added, “This is good news.  It will reduce crashes and let us walk home and feel safe”.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents research shows 20 miles per hour spped limits can:

• Reduce collisions by up to 40%
• Significantly reduce risk of death and serious injury.
