Exclusions and Suspensions

We would only ever use suspensions or exclusions as a last resort at St George's.   They are extremely rare in our school.  Measures outlinedin our behaviour policy are designed to avoid this outcome.

We would only exercise our right to enforce a suspension or exclusion if we feel that we need to clearly communicate that a child's behaviour has or is at risk of having a significant negative impact on the safety, happiness or learning of others in our school community.

In most cases we would hope to work with families to resolve issues regarding behaviour and work together to ensure that our school remains a safe, happy, place to learn.

The Department for Education has published an online leaflet for families regarding suspensions and exclusions.  That can be read by clicking here.

Guidance for school leaders and governors was updated in September 2023.  That can be read by clicking here.
