Congratulations to Mr Cassidy on a national teaching award!, by Mrs Walters

Date: 23rd Jun 2021 @ 3:46pm

Mr Cassidy has won a national teaching award after being nominated by the Senior Leadership Team and the governors.
He was presented with his Pearson Bronze Teaching award at a special whole school virtual assembly this afternoon.
The assembly was designed to say thank you to school staff as part of Thank a Teacher Day but staff and pupils had been secretly planning surprise messages for Mr Cassidy!
Every year group made a video thanking Mr Cassidy for his support for everyone at St George's over the past year before Mrs Skarratts-Jackson presented him with his award.
The children made posters, recited poems and even made a song describing Mr Cassidy as kind, caring and helpful, very good at maths and always smiling.
Years 5 and 6 then surprised him with a hand made banner.
Later on there was a second presentation with members of the Leadership team at school and the Chair and Vice Chair of Governors.
Well done to everyone for keeping the secret and thank you and congratulations to Mr Cassidy.

Celebrating St. George's Day at Topsite!, by Miss M Jones

Date: 26th Apr 2021 @ 11:16am

What a wonderful time Years 5 and 6 have had celebrating St. George's Day! Everyone marked the occasion by dressing in red and white. Like last year, we couldn't have our usual community parade due to government restrictions. However, we have still been busy by making pennants in Year 5, and a batik tapestry in Year 6. In the morning, we joined in with a singing event organised by AmaSing. We have also completed literacy work around St. George, and included some drama!
Our children enjoyed a themed lunch every day of the week leading up to St. George's day, prepared by our amazing Dragon's Diner team. On the 23rd, we sat on the field and revelled in the most delightful picnic, which consisted of sausage rolls, chips, strawberries & cream, and themed cakes!

Take a look at the festivities below!

The children cannot wait until the next instalment.

6D's fantastic poems, by Mrs Roberts

Date: 24th Mar 2021 @ 2:53pm

This afternoon, we have written some beautiful poems based on the poem 'If all the works were paper.' We used the title 'If all my friends were paper.' as our title, but kept the pattern of repetition the same. We spend a lot of time gathering our ideas, drafting and editing before we wrote up our final piece. We wanted to share them with you all at home. Well done 6D!
